From the resurgence in silent movies’ popularity to endless Great Gatsby-themed parties, the 20s has firmly taken their place in modern pop culture and even the fashion world has gotten involved.
The roaring 20s has a style that was a mix of minimalist and extravagant at the same time. Short bobs were worn in contrast to sequined dresses and pearls galore. This makes 20s-inspired fashion appropriate for both cocktail parties and red-tie events.
Getting into the 20s sprit is both easy and fun. To get it right, however, you’ll need to understand all the elements that made 20s fashion so memorable and incorporate all these into your outfits.
The good thing about tasseled dresses is that there is so much variety in how the tassels can be applied. The entire dress might be covered in layers of tassels or they might be used to form drapes around the side or the dress or in a zig-zag pattern.
The type of tasseled dress you wear should be based on where you are wearing the dress to. If it is for a non-formal event, go for a dress with as many or as few tassels as you want.
If it for a formal event, however, the tassels should be as modest as possible.
Nothing shows off quite like sequins. For a cocktail party or a night on the town, opt for a sequined dress, preferably in gold. Dresses can be of any length but short sequined dresses are considered more suitable for a party atmosphere than formal events.
Perhaps as a result of the excess and decadence of the time period ropes consisted of several long necklaces worn together or in some cases, made as a single necklace with many extensions.
Whatever you decide to wear, add a rope or two for added glamor.
It should be noted that all the elements of 20s fashion shouldn’t be worn all at once to avoid looking too dramatic.
